Join students
from all over the world at our European Industrial Heritage Summer School. From 9 to 20 August, 23 students will come together
in Berlin for ten intensive days exploring the topic of transforming industrial heritage. Factories, ports, mines, power plants,
railway stations: industrial sites that have lost their original function and are now being renegotiated. In terms of space,
society and politics.
Imagine you are inside a former factory. What do you see? A vacant space
waiting for investors? A place of collective memory for the workers who spent their lives here? An opportunity for new living
space, for culture, for community? Or a conflict – about who actually owns the city and who decides its future?
The
answer depends on who you ask. And that's exactly why we need many perspectives.
In our Summer School, you will discuss
with international experts, visit Berlin's industrial landmarks, take part in creative workshops and work together in interdisciplinary
teams.
We welcome students from history, museum studies, sustainability studies, cultural management, heritage
conservation, architecture, urban planning, and related disciplines. Students from other fields are warmly encouraged to apply
as well.
