The exhibition brings together
‘objects of interest’ – objects that are not necessarily to be regarded as works of art, but nor are they necessarily the
opposite. Material objects and readymades form just as much a part of the exhibition as TV, film and radio features.
In
collaboration with the Kunstsammlung und Archiv der Angewandten, Maumaus explores the Angewandten’s depot as a body sustained
by labour, which is simultaneously permanently present and absent within the rooms of the Heiligenkreuzer Hof in a ‘live transmission’.
Maumaus’s imagined authorship is thus reflected in the, as it were, imagined presence of the archive.
The
Maumaus cultural association was founded in Lisbon in 1992 and promotes knowledge of contemporary art by organising study
and artist-in-residence programmes, producing films and publications, and presenting exhibitions in its exhibition space Lumiar
Cité.
