And once I feel on my skin
nothing but your absence,
I
go floating into the gaping maw
of stillness eternal.
Weightless,
and dead.
Textures and patterns – two crucial building blocks in forming
the world around us, and both of them intrinsically linked to the human experience. We experience the former not only with
our eyes, but with our skin, our sense of touch grounding us firmly in the physical world, while the latter has the power
to heavily impact our minds.
As humans, we naturally seek out patterns, noticing them wherever we go, and even going as far as
to make them up when we feel their absence too strongly. Both tactile sensations as well as patterns have the power to cause
a wide range of emotions, from comfort to disgust.
Remember
Me by Touch is an exposition that explores the interplay of texture, patterns, and our own perception, by employing a
wide range of different media and artistic techniques. Rather than focusing on a single aspect, Remember Me by Touch covers
a broad spectrum of concepts and experiences, forming a larger picture under the banner of texture and pattern.
