Public Colloquium 2026: Opening of the Artistic Research PhD in Art programme
A Science of Singularity in the Age of Light
With the 2026 public colloquium A Science
of Singularity in the Age of Light, the Doctoral Programme in Artistic Research (PhD in Art) brings artistic researchers and
a broad audience together for shared exchange from 26–29 May 2026.
The 2026 colloquium will take place as a four-day open seminar at THE HALL and marks the launch of a new collaboration
between the PhD programme in Artistic Research at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and PART International Art
Residency Austria.
The colloquium will be opened by Angewandte Rector Ulrike Kuch and will include presentations
by 15 doctoral candidates in the PhD in Art programme, each offering insights into their ongoing artistic research projects.
Following their presentations, there will be public conversations, feedback sessions, and critical reflections with four invited
guest critics.
Across these four days, THE HALL becomes a site of dialogue, where practices are tested, ideas are
challenged, and new perspectives emerge. The event invites audiences to engage directly with current artistic research and
to take part in its unfolding. All the programmes will be documented by reportage drawing and photography.
