Curatorial Concept
This program drifts away from
traditional, human-centered narratives. Through experimental films and a live performance, it gives space to animals, plants,
images, and spaces—not as metaphors, but as quiet agents that observe, adapt, and reshape.
These
works do not seek to replace the human hero, but to question the need for one at all. They offer other ways of being, sensing,
and relating—sometimes tender, sometimes strange. Together, they invite us to see the non-human not as background, but as
presence. But when presence is framed only to fulfill the human gaze—when it becomes something to be studied, exoticized,
or owned—this shift risks turning dystopian. The quiet other becomes a spectacle. And what was once an invitation becomes
a mirror. The event is structured as a screening, a live performance, and a Q&A session. The artists will be present to
reflect on their works and engage in conversation with the audience.
ProgrammeBeemovie
Vera Sebert
In
this film bees are neither artificially animated nor do they appear as documented objects of study.
They themselves take on the role of human actors. The meaning of their actions remains uncertain
and offers a manifold projection surface for human recipients. The cinematic images provide insight
into an alienated world, which, when viewed, is inevitably adapted to ours.
Bike Porn
Stephan Trimmel
Bike
Porn follows the repair and maintenance of bicycles through a series of intimate close-up
images.
Chains, gears, lubricants, metal surfaces, and mechanical movements are presented with an
unexpectedly
erotic gaze, transforming routine maintenance into a sensual visual experience.
Balancing
between pleasure, intimacy, messiness, and craftsmanship, the film explores the fine line
between
mechanical care and desire, ending in a gesture of quiet cleansing and release.

voyage ith an unwritten letter
2021, Nicole Aebersold
Filmed on innumerable travels with old equipment, this ambient
piece drifts through fogged
windows, abstract sound, and fractured landscapes. It invites
the viewer into a soft, unsettled
space where nothing is said, but something lingers.

Das feine Zirpen einer Dunkelziffer
Silent Chirping of Invisible Digits
2023, Vera Sebert|
Like
a single film frame, insects flash for the fraction of a second, only to immediately withdraw
from
the field of vision again. In between their flickering body fragments, the film shows
undefinable
voids. What can be seen when familiar filters of vision and the narratives associated
with
them are missing?

DACHA
2021, Dina Karaman&Vladimir Nadein
Countryside residences of Soviet dictator
Joseph Stalin are hidden amid lush greenery. Their telltale
architecture betrays the many
phobias and fears of the ‘freest’ person in the whole Soviet empire.
The interiors are so
identical that they blur into a paranoid, multi-chamber labyrinth of repeating
beds, chairs,
and carpets.

Rumours
2017, Nicole Aebersold
A slow but forceful shift in power unfolds—inscrutable until
it’s too late. Through quiet
imagery and gradual transformation, the film captures the silent
occupation of an urban
space, mirroring changes as inevitable as life itself.

Mothra against prehistoric Creatures
Vera Sebert
Plastic dinosaurs, letters, sounds and moths are clashing within a
flickering battle of found,
animated and reanimated footage. In an intoxicating experimental
sequence this freely associated
fan fiction pays homage to Japanese monster films of the
60s and 70s and stimulates the sluggish
receptors of oversaturated media consumers.
Influenza
2025, Tote Tiere Maarten
There can be some strange birds among influencers on social media, but Influenza takes the crown.
Through her Instagram account, this digital cormorant, brought back to life, gives tips and tricks on
how to look human.

Vaginal
Cycle (Un)written
2026, Mehrta Shirzadian
with
live voice-overBased on daily observations of the vaginal microbiome throughout a menstrual
cycle, Vaginal Cycle
(Un)written transforms its day to day changes into an evolving digital
ecosystem. Accompanied by
a live voice-over, the work combines scientific research and personal
experience while drawing
attention to the complexity of microbial life and the historical
neglect of women's health research.
