Educating Empathy - Caring for Dementia

Center for Didactics of Art and Interdisciplinary Education

This online symposium aims to showcase artistic research and teaching strategies based on principles of art and design education that strengthen empathy for people with dementia.
Educating Empathy – Caring for Dementia addresses anybody interested in the topic, relatives of people with dementia, care takers and especially younger people. International and national experts in the areas of artistic research, dementia care, art, design, therapy, art education, music education, and fine arts as well as applied arts are invited to participate in talks, lectures, screenings and presentations.

National and international experts share their views and experiences; artists showcase their work:

DEMEARTS Dementia.Empathy.Education.Arts. is an artistic research project at the Center for Didactics of Art and Interdisciplinary Education at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. The research project focuses on artistic research on patterns of perception and action in the context of an aging society and aims to raise awareness in our society of the issue of dementia.
