description
"wisdom sits in places" - theatre on cultural fault lines" was a presentation given at the second international theatre conference of the iti, the international theatre institute. it was about ortszeit's work in a small mountain community in austria that has brought a first time confrontation and collaboration with contemporary theatre to an area so far hardly touched by a contemporary movements in the arts. through contact with and contribution of the local community it was possible to open up a space for the creation and reception of contemporary theatre forms as well as an approach to rather difficult parts of the local history in the form of theatre. a very heterogenous audience composed of peole coming in from the cities as well as from the local communities has made the project an outstanding example of the creation of new spaces of encounters across traditional cultural fault lines.
