Through abstraction, exaltation and alienation, the artist Claudia Larcher stages living spaces that explore
architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries.
In the Schauraum, two exhibits get in contact with
each other. One of them is the video installation Habitat (Silver Towers), which can be viewed as documentationof a stay abroad
in a New York City apartment complex, and the other is the object „Floppy“. This exposes a façade structure, whereby fabric
serves as the image carrier and assembly material. The application of fabric evokes the principle ofa curtain wall – a 20th
century construction type, the success of which Mies van der Rohe, among others, was greatly involved in furthering.
Claudia Larcher is an artist focusing on video, photography, collage and installations. She also experiments with live visuals
at performances and concerts. International presentations include: Viennale in Vienna, steirischer herbst in Graz, Tokyo Wonder
Site in Japan, Slought Foundation in Philadelphia, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Anthology
Film Archives in NYC; in 2016 she received the Outstanding Artist Award for Video and Media Art. A monography of her work
has recently been published by De Gruyter.
