Díaz Moreno and Efrén García Grinda taking over the University Professorship for Architectural Design

The designs, as well as buildings realized by Cristina Díaz Moreno and Efrén García Grinda, focus on urban planning issues and so are always concerned with sociological, technological and political developments. Their most important buildings include: Institucíon Libre de Enseñanza Fundación Francisco Giner de los Ríos Madrid (2004 - 2014), Diagonal 80, Exhibition Space and Factory Production in Madrid (2006-2009) and Cherry Blossom Palace in Jerte Valley (2008).
Their work has been exhibited several times since 2000 at the Biennale di Venezia and is part of the permanent collection at the Pompidou Centre in Paris. In June 2019 their temporary pavilion "The Wooden Parliament" was a success as part of the London Festival of Architecture, and they are set to participate in the project "Collective City" at the Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism in South Korea in the fall of 2019.

The team complements its international academic renown with regular publications. They ran a Diploma Unit at the AA (Architectural Association) in London for nine years, and have been visiting professors at internationally acclaimed universities and art schools such as Harvard, Princeton and Cornell University, Städelschule in Frankfurt and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.

Cristina Díaz Moreno and Efrén García Grinda are taking charge of Studio 1, succeeding Japanese architect and Pritzker prizewinner Kazuyo Sejima; and alongside Greg Lynn (Studio 2) and Hani Rashid (Studio 3), they will be teaching architectural design, the core artistic subject of the Institute of Architecture (IoA) at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
