On the third day of the PIXEL
vienna, the traditional Shortfilm
Festival took place in the beautiful
Stadtkino Vienna location on Karlsplatz.
This one-day screening of international
high-quality animation short films was
again loved by the PIXELvienna guests
and speakers. It is the perfect event to
say a relaxed goodbye to a wonderful
conference weekend. This year, five
blocks of three different sources
were presented and selected for the
audience.
The very first block of PIXELvienna
Shortfilm Festival was a selection of
the winners of last year’s ACGA (Austrian
Computer Graphics Award). It was a
selection of really fine short films made
in Austria.
Two blocks of the PIXELvienna Shortfilm
Festival program were dedicated to a
selection of short films out of the Ars
Electronica reel of 2013. Ars Electronica
is an internationally renowned festival for
art, technology and society based in Linz.
The last two blocks were selected from
the Computer Animation Festival of the
international organisation SIGGRAPH.
This special interest group of the Asso
-
ciation for Computing Machinery (ACM)
has the mission to foster and celebrate
innovation in computer graphics and in
teractive techniques. The annual comput
er animation festival at the SIGGRAPH
Conference is a major event in the field
of digital film. An internationally well-re
spected jury awards films in different
categories. The PIXELvienna Shortfilm
Festival team was proud to have the
permission to curate a selection of the
honored artworks.
