The Werkleitz Festival 2019, in Dessau, Germany takes an in-depth look at the legacy of Bauhaus from the perspective of contemporary
productions, as inspired by the interrelated tensions between the concepts of model and ruin. Criticism of Bauhaus is legion.
And yet we continue to utilize the elements of Bauhaus that are still relevant. Time is the central theme for Nikolaus Gansterers
works for the festival. His new works take up the idea that modernity marked the beginning of a new linear notion of time
that was open to the past and future but that older notions of time continued to exist in parallel to this new one. By means
of subtle, ephemeral interventions in the park, the artist explores potential forms of representation for these different
concepts of time.
On the occasion of the Bauhaus Centenary these artists have been invited to develop new commissioned work: Haseeb Ahmed ,
Rosa Barba, Aram Bartholl, Michael Beutler, Haris Epaminonda, Holmer Feldmann, Angela Ferreira, Nikolaus Gansterer, Christoph
Girardet, Cornelius Grau, Romain Loeser, Andrea Pichl, Magdalena Rude. Curated by Alexander Klose und Daniel Herrmann.
