Art&Science @ANGEWANDTE FESTIVAL
Studio
Exhibition and Events
This open studio exhibition showcases works by the students of the Art & Science
Master's programme that were created during this year. Through bouts of hybridity, construction, several moves, illnesses
and security measures, our sometimes complicated working situation touched the cohesion and interconnectedness between us
in more than one way and became an important factor in this coming together and our exchange. Now, finally, we can take possession
of the new rooms in the Postsparkasse (PSK) again and use them as an exhibition space for the first time.
Some of the works on display were created in connection with "Radical Matter", the class
cooperation partner this year. These works and performances were already shown at the beginning of June 2022 in the exhibition
"From there through here" at the Künstlerhaus Factory. Other works were created especially for the Angewandte Festival or
developed in the numerous workshops and courses of the past year. Under these special conditions, the exhibition itself became
a performative installation and aims to question common forms of representation by emphasising collective action.

15:00–17:00 | Minuscule encounters away from time and space
with Lucie Belle Blanche David
Through minuscule moments of movements and acts of caring for another, nail-polish
and nail art is an intimate encounter. This self-care ritual highlights the sensuous touch and delicate gesture of hands embellishing
other hands. As focuses shift, I will dive with you into an experience of embodied feelings and sensitive contact.
In
my work, the hand, the nails, and nail polish are a means and purpose to look at the sensual aesthetics of the manicure by
playing with its decorative aspect. By recording these gestures, movements and encounters, and projecting them on a large
format, their glossy, brilliant, sleek, smooth, and jelly finishes shine.
On the 30th, I will sit at my studio table
in the Art&Science Department from 4pm to 6pm. In that time I will produce some Minuscule Sculptures and who ever wants
to join me and have their nails painted by myself is warmly invited.
17:00–18:00 | This is not a script.
Nevertheless, we will act it out. - Performance by Charlotte Bastam with students of the Art & Science department
(come and go as you like)
In a performance about what used to be, but didn't happen this way, we provoke an entanglement
to the power of 2. We dive into our history as a group, but take on the role of another person. Turning the story of an exhibition
upside down again, exploring how it could have been if I had been you and you had been me.
This performance is based
on the work This is not an audioguide., shown during the exhibition From there through here at the Künstlerhaus. The performers
read passages from transcripts taken from recordings of discussions, conversations and parties during the exhibition planning
at the Art & Science Department. They experience themselves, the place and the becoming of the group anew.
How will
the story unfold this time?
18:30 | Anything, anywhere… but not afk - Xavi Sosa and Chloë Lalonde
Anything, anywhere… but not afk is a collaborative sound performance that explores the intersection of our analog and digital
practices with self-made instruments and playing through the surfaces of different materials and objects in the studio.
19:00 | Karaoke night
Everyone is welcome to join Art & Science students.
