As a result of the three international professors for design, Hadid, Lynn, Rashid, the profile of the Institute is seen as being that of an international, networked body with a focus on architectural design. At this Institute, architecture is taught as an integrative discipline. As an entity composed of artistic, technical and organisational aspects, with a background formed by the social sciences and the humanities.
Architecture is the contemporary, three-dimensional expression of all the facets of our culture and is therefore not a product, but the result of the design procedure, which can be equated with the thought process. The realisation of design that innovatively goes beyond the limits of the status quo, requires strategies and therefore the development of the Institute for Architecture at the Vienna University of Applied seeks to promote strategic training.
