From November 19, 2018, the University of Applied Arts Vienna will present various approaches
to its research under the title UNDERSTANDING – ART & RESEARCH in Singapore. In cooperation with the renowned School of
Art, Design and Media (ADM), Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU), exemplary research and teaching will be on
display.
It is about understanding possibilities of research of and through art in new
ways, about understanding as the very driving force of inquiry, artistic and scientific activity. The desire and claim to
contribute to the transformation of society can be viewed, examined, sensed, discussed and experienced through examples from
research and teaching, science and art, design and architecture.
15 different examples of artistic research practice
are presented, always challenging the established perspective. As a further artistic position, a work by Niki Passath will
be presented in Singapore. In addition, there is the work of the Fulldome Laboratory and the Science Visualization Lab.
The exhibition UNDERSTANDING – ART & RESEARCH, curated by Gerald Bast, Alexander Damianisch and Barbara Putz-Plecko,
was newly adapted and designed after a first station in April 2018 in New Zealand (Dunedin School of Art).
