Advice and support concerning the processing of applications are available from the Art and Research Grant project co-ordination office.  

With the financial support of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture (bm.bwk), the Austrian Academy of the Sciences (ÖAW) is offering the following grant programmes subject to new conditions of suitability:

DOC (doctoral programme of the Austrian Academy of the Sciences)

DOC is a research programme of the Austrian Academy of the Sciences, which is open to applications from all research areas.  

Requirement profile
Applicants must be Austrian citizens, or have been resident in Austria for at least two years and must have completed their initial or master’s degree not more than two years previously. Moreover, on the date of application, they must be younger than 28 (see statutes for exceptions).  

Grant and grant duration
The grant amounting to € 30,000 gross p.a. will be allocated for a maximum of 36 months.

Closing date for applications
15 May (every year)


APART (Austrian Programme for Advanced Research and Technology)

This post-doctoral grant for highly qualified scientists from all areas of research may be used both in Austria and in other countries.

Requirement profile
Applicants must be Austrian citizens, or have been resident in Austria for at least two years, and must have completed their doctorate not more than two years previously. Moreover, on the date of application, they must be younger than 36 (see statutes for exceptions).  

Grant and grant duration
The grant amounting to €50,000 gross p.a. (excl.  €3,000 in travel expenses) will be allocated for a maximum of 36 months.

Closing date for applications
15 May (every year)
