The two-year master's degree programme
"art & economy" is aimed at those coming from a wide range of disciplines and sectors who would like to broaden their
horizons of knowledge and experience in the field of arts and cultural management. Due to the increasing pressure for professionalization
on artists and cultural workers and the desire of many creatives to gain a foothold in the private sector, a transdisciplinary
education with a clear practical orientation is becoming more and more necessary.
The combination of creative sensibility
and originality with basic competences in the fields of management, marketing and self-organization thus creates new professional
fields. In order to best meet the challenges of the market, the entire teaching staff for this master’s programme consists
of experienced personalities from business, art and culture who provide well-founded, practical information in the following
areas: business planning, project management, legal basics, event management, national and international art market, art theory,
arts and cultural funding, sponsoring, gallery business, music industry, online marketing, networking, communication, business
aesthetics, …
Even while in the process of training, it is possible to build a network in the fields of business, art
and culture, which can be drawn upon after completion of the master's programme.
The master's programme "art & economy"
at the University of Applied Arts Vienna is an extra-occupational study course that concludes with the academic degree "MA
(CE) – Master of Arts (Continuing Education)" and thus also entitles the holder to admission to doctoral studies.
